MTCS – PEFC’s Chain of Custody (CoC) certification is a mechanism for tracking certified materials from the forests to the final products such as wood, sawn-timber, wood joinery and moulding, wood fibre and their products, wood composites, fibre-board, chip board, paper and corrugated board, furniture, etc, to ensure that wood, wood fibre or non-wood forest produce contained in the final product or product line can be traced back through a chain of custody to MTCS/PEFC certified forests or certified FMU (Forest Management Unit).
It is an essential part of the PEFC system which ensures that claims about products originating in sustainably managed forests or FMUs are credible and verifiable throughout the whole supply chain. It is used to certify entities all along the value-chain of forest-based products.
The acquisition of CoC certification reinforces the sustainability commitments of enterprises and businesses. It provides companies with a commercial advantage as it allows them to use the PEFC logo on products, making them the preferred choice especially for responsible consumers.
Moody is one of STANDARDS MALAYSIA’s Accredited Certification Bodies appointed to operate the PEFC-MTCS Chain of Custody.
